Emily Bissell Laird - Dreaming Star Studio

Artist Biography

Emily Bissell Laird works in vibrant color to create her evocative dream-like paintings. Her paintings are usually narrative in nature, telling a visual story with between-worlds imagery.

She received her degree in Art Education from the University of Vermont and graduate credits from the Philadelphia College of Art and the Vermont Studio Center. Emily has been an Arts-in-Education Artist for the Vermont Arts Council receiving grants for residencies in Vermont schools. Once an elementary art teacher in the public schools, she now teaches part-time at the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School in addition to her work in the studio.

Emily has exhibited her paintings in galleries in Vermont, Delaware, and New Mexico. Her paintings have been featured on the cover of many publications including the Vermont Law School Catalog, Free Spirit Magazine New York City, Connexions Magazine, Seattle, Washington and The Delaware Medical Journal. Her work has been profiled or reviewed in The News Journal, Wilmington, Delaware, and in Vermont, The Burlington Free Press, The Vermont Times, Seven Days, The Stowe Reporter, The Bennington Banner, and The Rutland Herald. Emily's paintings are in international private and corporate collections. Her company Dreaming Star Studio publishes images of her paintings on cards, distributing over 50,000 nationally.



Emily, her husband, Musician John Creech, two children and an orange cat live, work and dream in a blue purple house on the edge of a wide valley near Lake Champlain.
